Propane Chat, the AI Chat bot for websites, offers you many ways to customize and train your site's AI engine. When Propane Chat is first installed it will read / scrape all of your website's publicly available content to learn and memorize everything about your organization.
So, within just a few minutes of installation, Propane Chat can already answer most of your website visitor's questions. When someone asks your chat a question, if the answer can be found somewhere on your website, Propane Chat will be able to answer it.
If you want to give Propane Chat further instructions, information, or teach it how to answer specific questions, all of these things can be accomplished through response tuning, chat corrections, and training documents.
So what does it mean to 'Skip Pages' in the 'Scraping Settings' tab of the Propane Chat Dashboard?
If you would like Propane Chat not to include information found on a particular page of your website you can enter the URL for that page, press enter, and then click on the 'Re-Scrape Site' button found on the same page. Now, when Propane Chat reads or re-reads your website's content it will not use the information found on that particular page to answer customer questions.
For example, let's say that you are running a Facebook ad that directs your potential customers to a particular landing page on your site (i.e. www.mysite.com/facebooksale). Perhaps on that landing page, you are offering a special discount intended only for customers coming from the Facebook ad. To avoid Propane Chat offering that discount to your broader website audience you'll need to 'skip that page' so that Propane Chat doesn't use the information on the /facebooksale url when answering general customer questions.
In general, any page that shares the same root path as one of your 'skipped pages' will not be included. For example if yoursite.com/path1/path2 is one of your 'skipped pages' then Propane chat will also skip yoursite.com/path1/path2/path3 and yoursite.com/path1/path2/path4.
